The Night Everything Clicked for Grammy-Nominated Chainsmokers

The morning the Grammy Awards nominations (@ recordingacademy ) were announced, the Chainsmokers (@ thechainsmokers ) were in line waiting for coffee and doughnuts.  “It was 8 a.m. in Boston, and our tour manager was with us, plus a bunch of strangers,” says Alex Pall, one half of the EDM duo nominated for three Grammys, including Best New Artist. “We bought everyone coffee!” This year, the Chainsmokers will release their first full-length album and hit the road for a 40-city North American tour, but Alex recalls the moment everything clicked: the night they created “Roses,” their second single. “Up to that point, we had always been kind of trying to make music that fit into something. ‘Can DJs play this in clubs? Will people be able to play it at festivals? Does this sound like what’s popular right now?’” explains Alex. “‘Roses’ was one of the first songs we made where we wanted to play it over and over again just for ourselves.”

Local DJ Black Coffee has bought into hot Soweto venue, Zone 6. The multi-use space has been the place-to-be for Joburg party lovers for many years, most recently hosting  Cassper Nyovest’s album release party  for his chart-topper,  Thuto .  The Daily Sun  reports that the club's usual way of doing things won't change in light of the acquisition but there will be some improvements behind-the-scenes. The businessman and entertainer confirmed the news on his Twitter account saying: “We are pleased to announce the @Zone6Venue stake acquisition, an opportunity to further contribute to the culture.” See Black Coffee’s tweet here: View image on Twitter  Follow #PIECESOFME   ✔ @RealBlackCoffee "We are pleased to announce the  @ Zone6Venue  stake acquisition , an opportunity to further contribute to the culture. 1:21 PM - 20 Jun 2017     1,140 1,140 Retweets     1,826 1,826 likes Twitter Ads info and privacy
