NBC backtracks on This is Us decision

NBC now says "never mind" to its bold scheduling move of shifting the hit drama  This is Us  to Thursdays next season. The network said on Tuesday it was shelving that plan and leaving the heartwarming series in place on Tuesday nights. A network executive familiar with the plans told The Associated Press there was concern that with NBC airing on Thursday night football games in the late fall, there would be too many interruptions for the serialised show, perhaps annoying viewers. The executive spoke on condition of anonymity because the person was not authorised to discuss the plans publicly. With the move back to Tuesday, NBC will be able to air nine or 10 continuous episodes of  This is Us  before there are any interruptions, the executive said. The move had been the centerpiece of NBC's plan, announced just two weeks ago, to create a schedule that echoed its  "must-see TV" Thursday nights  of two decades ago. It's not unusual for a television

How Wonder Woman built a world of women, onscreen and off

In a world of only women, there are no phallic structures. At least that's how Patty Jenkins imagined the island home of the Amazons and their heroic princess Diana, who grows up to become Wonder Woman. "Like columns? They didn't make that much sense to me," Jenkins said in a recent interview. "They felt like an imposition on landscape, which didn't feel like something that women are jonesing to do." A new world for women onscreen and off As the director of  Wonder Woman , Jenkins is creating new worlds for women both onscreen and off. Not only did she help dream up the look of the Amazon island and hire scores of actresses to serve as its resident warriors, she's the first woman to direct a major superhero movie, and her success could pave the way for others. As a child, she was inspired by Wonder Woman, describing Lynda Carter's portrayal on TV as "the embodiment of everything that I wanted to be as a woman." "

PICS: Rob Kardashian shares adorable throwback snaps of Blac Chyna

Rob Kardashian was in a throwback mood on Tuesday after sharing a couple of snaps of young Blac Chyna. In what he’s calling “Rob's Random Cornball Thoughts,” the sock designer shared two old photographs of the mother of his baby girl – one of when she was 14 years old and one in which she appears younger but her age is unknown. In the caption of the first pic Rob wrote: “This young lady who grew up to be the woman I love and the mother of my child. She is beautiful and gave me my first child.” Along with the second snap, Rob wrote: “Awww look at my little Angela at 14!!!!!! Hahaha I LOVE YOU !!!! (sic)” SEE THE THROWBACK PICS HERE: It may seem as though the former couple have rekindled their romance, however  E! News reports Rob and Blac are not back together.  They have merely found a balance in co-parenting their 6-month-old daughter and are focused on working on themselves.

Can I get an STD from oral sex?

credit GOOGLE Jade Zwane from City Press answers reader's uncomfortable sex questions. Q: Can I fall pregnant from pre-cum? My boyfriend suggested we use the pull-out method and I wanted your opinion. A: The function of pre-ejaculate is to adjust the pH of the urethra from urine- to semen-friendly. While the likelihood is slim, it’s still possible to fall pregnant as pre-ejaculate can contain sperm, even though low in concentration, or semen ejaculate directly after the pre-ejaculate can enter your vagina. I advise against the pull-out method. Not only is it high risk for unplanned pregnancy, you’re not protected against sexually transmitted infections. Condoms are my recommendation. As nothing is 100% guaranteed, dual protection against pregnancy (using a condom and being on a contraceptive pill) wouldn’t be a bad idea. Q: What are the chances of contracting something from oral sex? A: Because of the exchange of bodily fluids, there’s a possibil

Just the thought of adult acne has turned me into a teenager again

Credit: Getty Images The hint of a single pimple in your 30s can see all your teenage angst and insecurities come rushing back. As a teen, I suffered from acne. It started when I was very young – my first period arrived on my twelfth birthday and suddenly I had to deal with periods, boobs, hips and pimples. It was rough. Luckily, my parents were pretty proactive since I was their fourth child whose mix of genetics and hormones wreaked havoc with her skin. We didn’t waste time with over the counter lotions and potions, but went straight to a dermatologist instead. After trying a few milder treatments first, I was eventually put on a routine of Cetaphil, Xeroderm and Roaccutane. The side effects of chapped lips, dry eyes and having to stay out of the sun like a vampire were a small price I willingly paid for the result – smooth skin as flawless as a baby’s bottom.  I remember how week after agonisingly slow week my scepticism was replaced, first with hopeful incredulity

Makeup artist 'transforms' white woman into black woman - online backlash ensues

Credit: Instagram An appreciation and celebration of other cultures or just another offensive case of blackface? The makeup artist behind the  @paintdatface  Instagram account has recently come under scrutiny for a makeup look which transformed a white model into a black woman. The look was achieved by using dark foundation, giving the white model darker eyebrows, darker contact lenses, lipstick which created the illusion of fuller lips and a headwrap - an accessory not usually associated with Western culture. This transformation was posted on Instagram with a disclaimer (probably because the artist knew exactly the wrong she was doing) about how the makeup was in no way a race change, but rather a celebration of other cultures. Um? And it should come as no surprise that followers of the account were not buying any of it, pointing out how using makeup to turn a white woman into a black woman is not only an insult to people of colour, but is an explicit display of blac

5 natural bridal hairstyles worth ditching your veil for

Credit: Instagram Everyone loves the classic bridal bun, but maybe it's time to show off your hair in all its natural glory on your big day. Ever since mainstream media started embracing natural hair in all its forms, there has been less pressure on women of colour to "tame" their hair for red carpet events and special occasions such as weddings. More brides are giving their 22-inch Peruvian weaves a break and showing off their coils, curls and plaits. This is not to say there's anything wrong with straight tresses, but we're just happy that opting for a natural look is no longer seen as a "less glamorous" decision. Especially not after you've seen these five stunning natural bridal hairstyles: 1. Dreadlock updo/side-do You can still pin your veil on the back of your head with this one. But be sure to go get your locs done the day before because dreadlocks not only take a good year to dry, but the process of twisting and locki

13 old TV shows to binge-watch immediately

All of these are still utterly (re)watchable and relevant. Friends One of the longest running comedies ever, this show ended 13 years ago and it’s still culturally relevant today. Who doesn’t remember Chandler’s quips, Phoebe’s Smelly Cat, or the “we were on a break” saga? It was a story about friendship which eventually became a part of the lives of their fans. As the only level-headed one he now has to deal with his rich, spoilt family and take care of them while trying to be a good role model to his son, George Michael. This show was another hilarious look into the lives of the uber rich and eccentric and was full of great one liners that have made for some epic GIFS. 3 book plot twists that left me shook

Those jaw-dropping moments that you just didn’t see coming. Hints at possible spoilers:   We’re chatting about plot twists in the following books mentioned below. While there aren’t any overt spoilers, there are hints that could be construed as such, so if you haven’t read the books below, do proceed with caution. Right, so a few years back, I read a novel by Sandra Brown called  Envy . While the author has garnered a reputation for herself as being the queen of romantic suspense, I thought I’d be getting my usual fare of an enjoyable mystery, with hints of spice to liven things up a little. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Do you know how you have those moments when something happens in a book that causes that novel to stay with you for years after you’ve read it? This ended up being one of them.  The thing is it’s not so much that you couldn’t see which direction the book was going in (the villain in the book is fairly obvious), but more in the way that the book plays out. Th
