This new statue of Cristiano Ronaldo is an epic fail!

Cristiano Ronaldo has an airport named after him, but it was his odd-looking statue that attracted attention in Wednesday's ceremony honouring the football star in his hometown. The player's bronze bust, which was unveiled to much fanfare by Portugal's president and prime minister on the island of Madeira, hardly does the handsome footballer justice. It squashes his eyes close together, and the cheeky raised-eyebrow smile more resembles a leer. The face is also unusually chubby, in contrast to Ronaldo's chiseled looks. Dozens of guests and hundreds of fans were at the unveiling of the bust in Ronaldo's native Madeira Islands. It was part of an official ceremony to rename the local airport as Aeroporto Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo also attended the ceremony, but did not show any signs of being bothered by the odd look of his newly unveiled bust. See pics of the odd-looking statue here:

SABC fined R10k after Isidingo uses woman’s real phone number

The SABC has been fined R10 000 after its SABC3 weekday TV soap Isidingo used a woman’s real telephone number. The cell phone number was used in a late November 2016 episode of Isidingo.  Thapelo Diale was instantly flooded by a barrage of calls and messages. It got so bad that she was disciplined through a warning letter in December 2016, negatively impacting her HR record at the railway company she works for. The SABC offered up an apology but Diale, who had lodged a complaint with the Broadcasting Complaints Commission of South Africa (BCCSA), said that wasn’t enough for the personal chaos Isidingo  caused and that she had to endure as a result of the South African public broadcaster’s negligence. She told the BCCSA of the emotional harm and verbal abuse she suffered when answering her phone. The SABC told the BCCSA that actor Shona Ferguson, who plays Thapelo “Tyson” Mokoena in Isidingo  produced by Endemol Shine Africa, was told by the director in a scene shot in Octo

This is totally unacceptable behaviour

Maybe I’m just being silly but I really hate it when my boyfriend squeezes my breasts in public and says: ‘Honk! Honk!’ I’m quite heavy on top and this just draws attention to them.  I find it really humiliating. Other than that, he’s a really nice guy. Shall I just let him carry on and grin and bear it for the sake of our relationship?  Judith, bye-mail  Dear Judith,  When next he tries it, why not give him a kick in the groin area and yell:  ‘Boom! Boom!” then ask him what he thinks? This is totally unacceptable behaviour and you need to let him know how it makes you feel. If he really is the nice guy you say he is, he’ll be mortified that his behaviour has upset you. Hopefully, he’ll learn his lesson and behave. Good luck.

Bok jersey has lost its meaning - Jean

ormer captain Jean de Villiers says the Springbok jersey has lost some of its meaning after a disastrous year for the team in 2016. The Springboks, under the guidance of head coach Allister Coetzee, lost a "record" eight out of 12 Tests last year. Jean de Villiers  It included a first ever loss to Ireland on home soil, losing away to Argentina for the first time, a record 57-15 pummelling at home against the All Blacks, as well as going down to lowly Italy - also for the first time ever. De Villiers, who played 109 Tests for the Springboks between 2002 and 2015, was a guest speaker at the launch of a schools rugby event in Pretoria on Wednesday where he shared his thoughts on the current state of Springbok rugby. In-fighting at boardroom level has had a negative impact on the South African game, De Villiers feels. “The structures from schools level to the Boks are not structures geared for long-term success. There’s constant fighting going on, from top lev

Broos threatens to quit Cameroon job

Cameroon’s Africa Cup of Nations-winning coach Hugo Broos has threatened to quit over management and funding problems in the national team set-up.  Broos, who led the team to the trophy in Gabon in February, said he is “seriously considering whether I should continue or not”. He also said his players and staff have to work in “poor conditions” while Cameron Football Federation officials “sit in their chairs doing nothing”.  “I cannot accept this,” he added. Broos made his comments in a news conference after a 2-1 defeat by Guinea in a friendly in Belgium on Tuesday, revealing the extent of the problems he has faced since his appointment in February 2016.  “One year ago when I started working with Cameroon I met many problems. Despite all this we worked hard and reached a new level.  But the working conditions are not professional,” he said. “For example, when we had to go to South Africa last year we were forced to wait for more than two hours on a plane because some officia

PIC: This Deadpool super-fan tattooed Ryan Reynolds’ name on his butt!

Ryan Reynolds' is tattooed on a super-fan's butt.  A  Deadpool  super-fan got Ryan Reynolds’ moniker tattooed on his butt after the actor liked a tweet of his. A Twitter user who goes by the name of Dustin tweeted at Ryan Reynolds on 5 March promising that if Ryan liked his tweet he would get “Ryan Reynolds” tattooed on his butt. He then followed up with another tweet saying he would get the tattoo in black and red, which makes sense because it’s the  Deadpool  theme colours. And because Ryan is an absolute legend, he liked both tweets! Of course, Dustin had to stick to his end of the deal. The teen aka  @poolspidey  unveiled his fresh ink on Twitter on Sunday with the caption: “Your wish is my command”

Sweet Coconut and Flaxseed Porridge with Spiced Almond and Date Butter

Coconut and Flaxseed Porridge with Spiced Almond and Date Butter is quite a mouthful but then luckily it is a tasty and pretty healthy mouthful. I recently received some products from  Crede Natural Oils  and in the parcel were packets of  coconut flour ,  flaxseed flour  (also known as linseeds) and some  nut butters . I am always keen to bake with “alternative” flours but have read that coconut flour is quite tricky so shelved that idea. I did not want to make pancakes – there are enough coconut flour pancakes out there – so decided to mix the two flours and make a porridge instead. Coconut flour is high in fiber and protein as well as being gluten free and the flaxseed flour is packed with omega 3 essential fatty acids so it makes for a wholesome and healthy breakfast that will keep you feeling full for quite a while. A side note on flaxseed flour – you can use the flour to make a “flax egg” to replace chicken eggs if you need to bake without eggs. Mix 1 tbsp flaxseed flou

Sweet Za’atar Rolls

It feels like autumn has arrived. The days are still warm but it feels like there is a slight chill in the air and the mornings are definitely just that bit darker for longer. This means we are heading to meals consisting of nourishing broths and soups. And I really do think these Za’atar Rolls are a must to bake to mop up all those comforting soups. But while we wait for the cold to properly arrive, these soft rolls packed with loads of flavour from the  za’atar  mix can easily replace that good old garlic bread at your next barbecue. This is the second recipe I have made from Joudie Kalla’s book, Palestine on a Plate – Memories from my mother’s kitchen. The book is a tribute to her family, mother and home and packed with recipes for the most delicious Palestinian food. I tweaked the recipe slightly by adding some  harissa  for some extra spice and feta cheese for a salty undertone. You can omit the harissa paste but I liked the added flavour of cumin and coriander coming

Raw Chocolate Pudding with Sweet Dukkah

I have to admit this is a recipe I never thought I would make. I find vegan and raw “cooking” interesting but always said I draw the line at using avocado as dessert. But this recipe for Raw Chocolate Pudding with Sweet Dukkah was part of the recipe when I discovered the fantastic  Chocolate Dukkah  I posted a few weeks ago. The chocolate pots on  Faring Well  looked so delicious I decided to try it and see what it tastes like.It is smooth and creamy and certainly chocolatey. But you have to make sure you are using the best avocados you can find and the best quality cacao powder as the taste of the pudding will be compromised. Use perfectly ripe avos that are not stringy and with no dark spots. The taste of the dark spots will come through in the pudding. I tweaked the recipe and replaced the almond milk with coconut milk. I refrigerated the coconut milk to scoop off the cream as a topping and used the left over milk/water to mix with the avo. I used maple syrup to sweeten th
